Four UNS Mathematics Students Present at International Conference on Informatics and Computing (ICIC) 2026
Surakarta, October 16, 2026 – Four students from the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), presented their research at the International Conference on Informatics and Computing (ICIC 2026). The conference was organized by the Indonesian Association of Higher Education in Informatics and Computer (APTIKOM) and Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta (UAJY) as part of MUNAS VII APTIKOM 2026. It was held on October 8, 2026, at Kampus III, Gedung Bonaventura, UAJY, Yogyakarta, in conjunction with the National Seminar on Information and Communication Technology (SEMNASTIK 2026). ICIC is an annual international conference held by APTIKOM that serves as a main platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to exchange information, knowledge, and research findings in computer science, information science, and computer engineering, including their applications in mathematics, science, and engineering. Now in its eleventh edition, ICIC 2026 was held in a hybrid format, allowing presenters to join onsite or online. Papers presented at the conference are compiled into proceedings submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore.

Under the supervision of Nughthoh Arfawi Kurdhi, lecturer of the Mathematics Study Program FMIPA UNS, the students presented their papers onsite. Their research covered artificial intelligence and mathematical optimization, ranging from railway wheel defect classification to vehicle routing and facility location problems. The presented papers are as follows:
- Bella Afrila Widyatama: “Optimization of Green Vehicle Routing Problem with Heterogeneous Fleet (GVRP-HF) Using Brown Bear Optimization Algorithm”
- Fidelithu Vristher: “Multi-Class Railway Wheel Surface Defect Classification Using MobileNetV2 and cWGAN-GP-Based Synthetic Augmentation”
- Mahir Fajar Utomo: “Solving Complex Vehicle Routing Problem in Package Delivery Model Using Harmony Search Algorithm”
- Naufal Helmy Mustofa: “A Metaheuristic Approach Using Tabu Search for the Bi-Objective p-Median Max-Sum Diversity Problem”

The participation of these students demonstrates the strength of the UNS Mathematics Study Program in applying mathematics and artificial intelligence to real-world problems, as well as its commitment to research and innovation. The conference also provided the students with a valuable platform to exchange ideas with researchers and academics from various institutions, broadening their knowledge and strengthening their research and scientific communication skills.
