UNS Mathematics Lecturer Delivers Keynote Presentation at INCORE 2026 International Conference
SURAKARTA, INDONESIA — Nughthoh Arfawi Kurdhi, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer in the Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Indonesia, was invited as an international speaker at the International Conference on Research and Education Across Disciplines (INCORE 2026), organized by Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, India, on August 8, 2026. The conference brought together academics, researchers, industry professionals, and scholars from various disciplines to exchange research findings, innovative ideas, and technological developments addressing contemporary global challenges. INCORE 2026 served as an interdisciplinary platform encompassing science, engineering, technology, management, social sciences, humanities, and education. Organized by Easwari Engineering College, the conference emphasized knowledge exchange, collaborative research, innovation, and stronger connections between academia and industry. The event also provided opportunities for researchers to disseminate their findings and explore potential academic partnerships across disciplines.
During the conference, Dr. Kurdhi delivered a presentation entitled “Metaheuristic Algorithms and Explainable–Generative AI (XAI and GenAI) for Revenue Management, Electric Vehicle Routing Problems, and Classification Models.” The presentation highlighted the integration of mathematical optimization, artificial intelligence, and operations research in developing intelligent decision-support approaches for complex real-world problems. A central focus of the presentation was the application of metaheuristic optimization algorithms to computationally challenging problems. These approaches offer effective strategies for obtaining high-quality solutions when conventional exact optimization methods become computationally demanding. In revenue management, mathematical optimization can support pricing strategies, resource allocation, and operational decision-making. Meanwhile, in the Electric Vehicle Routing Problem (EVRP), optimization techniques can help determine efficient transportation routes while considering operational constraints, vehicle capacity, energy consumption, and charging requirements.

The presentation also explored the growing importance of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) in improving the transparency and interpretability of machine learning models. Techniques such as SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) and Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations (LIME) provide insights into the contributions of individual features to model predictions. Furthermore, the integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) offers opportunities to develop more adaptive, interpretable, and accessible analytical systems that support data-driven decision-making. Dr. Kurdhi’s participation in INCORE 2026 highlighted the contribution of UNS researchers to the advancement of applied mathematics, operations research, mathematical modeling, optimization, and artificial intelligence. His involvement also provided an opportunity to introduce the research expertise of the Mathematics Study Program at FMIPA UNS to an international academic audience and strengthen potential research collaborations with overseas institutions. Participation in this international conference reflects the continuing commitment of the Mathematics Study Program, FMIPA UNS, to strengthening research excellence, international academic engagement, and the global visibility of Universitas Sebelas Maret. It also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through the advancement of scientific knowledge, technological innovation, and international research collaboration.
